A sad time for Vermont

It all began as rumors of a hurricane heading toward the East Coast, and it turned out to be more devastation than I had ever anticipated. Sunday, August 28, 2011 was a gloomy one. For a few of us, we were getting the gusts of winds that make you think 'hmmmm... how close is that tree to my house?' and the rains that make you want to bake some homemade cookies and curl up to a good movie. However, for most of us, it was a different story. Water was rising - and rising -- and rising. Hurricane Irene turned out to be a horrific day for our great state. A day that many people will ever forget.

There have been reports of deaths, videos of homes being washed away, and even Vermont's historical bridges being toppled by raging rivers that entangled large tree branches, debris and anything else that it took in it's path. The pictures keep showing up, the videos are still being posted and media outlets are still reporting on this very topic. The people whose lives have been effected by this will never be the same. The lives, homes, buildings, businesses and bridges that we have lost tells a sad tale about the Hurricane Tropical Storm that took over Vermont.

Please keep Vermont in your thoughts and prayers.
